We have been very busy here this week! Our most exciting news is that we set 20 eggs on Wednesday. 10 of the eggs will eventually move to Ms Spinner's incubator. We marked each egg with an X and an O so we could track their movement in the egg turner. We also numbered the eggs from 1-20 so we can monitor their growth when we candle them.

Yesterday, we were so excited to welcome Christine Gall to our first grade town meeting to help us continue our gardening work. Christine showed us what a seed needs in order to grow and be successful. She did this by dressing a classmate up as a seed! We then worked on identifying the steps a seed takes in it’s journey to becoming a plant.

Phew! What a busy week. We finished up our “How To” writing, hiked to the pinnacle, wished Ms Cope a happy birthday, and said goodbye to one of our classmates (moving to a new school).

We also continued to track our plant growth, learned how to make newspaper pots, and planted some flowers! Our class bean plants are really growing while our individual ones in the baggies all molded. We think they had too much water. Ms Cope started new ones, so we are hoping they will grow so we can see all the plant parts.

We are so excited to announce the newest project in our classroom!

In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, we have switched over to reusable dishes in our classroom! We will no longer  be using disposable plastic cups and spoons, paper plates, and we won’t have to waste napkins (we were using them as plates at our seats before).

We are learning how to properly dispose of our left overs (compost vs. recycle vs. trash) and also properly wash dishes!

Check out some pictures from snack today. Everyone is off to a great start!

Ms. Cope has started a wonderful gardening unit in our classroom! They started by looking at beans and learning about the parts of a seed and what plants need to grow. They have set up some wonderful planting activities to observe and monitor the growth of plants. They have also done some predicting about which type of bean will grow fastest

The second picture is a picture of the materials we used to build our ramps
for science. The third picture is a picture Eleanor, Matthew and Ella eating snack.
